Shawn Sutton was treated with a complete lack of respect as OSU’s head coach! You have to look at some of the circumstances which he couldn’t control; His best big man, Cooper, getting homesick and transferring home to Louisiana, Jameson Curry declaring early for the NBA draft, Flowers getting arrested for Marijuana possession, Green making a poor decision and going straight to the NBA. All of this along with Holder’s resentment of the Sutton family led to Shawn’s unfair dismissal.

People should look back at the program before Shawn and Eddie arrived. After Iba, we sure weren’t excelling under Paul Hanson and Leonard Hamilton! Eddie Sutton brought the program, the attendance and the facility back to life! We were essentially a continuously mediocre team going nowhere until we brought in Eddie Sutton! Shawn, as a player and Assistant Coach was an amazingly important part of this resurrection! For his efforts, OSU gave him no time to develop the team and didn’t consider the circumstances he endured.

Ford’s two tournament appearances have all been with players recruited by Shawn Sutton. Page, which I believe will be the last, was also one of Shawn’s signees. Now we can all watch as the program dips below what would be considered as average and into the abysmal category! The attendance has already fallen and recruiting will soon follow. I’ll start following again when someone named Sutton is in charge of the team again!

Sean did not get much time. But Eddie told everyone how much he had to do with the program. Like doing most of the recruiting, game planning and running practice. Those players we mostly his so he should not have gotten as much time as a normal coach that just comes to a new job. He did not get the same talent to the NCAA that Travis Ford did a year later. It’s a shame but Sean needed to go. Great family, great coaches just a bad situation that seems to have improved. My opinion is Sean will coach again and do well, he still deserves our thanks for his hard work. An OSU ALUM!

Sean Sutton was fired because his last 2 teams did not make the NCAA either year and I believe he lost in the first round of the NIT both seasons. Holder did the right thing in firing Sean.

FlyPoke, I hope you’re talking from a position of inside knowledge there. Otherwise you’re as clueless as a bug flying toward the porch zapper. I don’t see any way in heck that Holder could have known anything about any drug problem with Sean Sutton when there has been no publicly disclosed evidence that anything like what resulted in Sean’s criminal charge was going on back when he was fired. All the evidence and public statements confirm that he was fired for not winning and not getting into the NCAA tournament, and I have no problem with that. Why try and fabricate a reason for the firing that Holder himself hasn’t mentioned? I love guys like Mike Holder. No nonsense. No wishy-washy doubletalk. Straight up high expectations, but nothing he wouldn’t also expect from himself. A guy like that is awesome if his approach and method works. However, if all the high ticket prices and restricted packaging of game tickets and short leashes don’t lead to more success, the guy will turn like a month old bottle of milk.

Mike holder hates the suttons. Sean had personal problems outside of basketball but his performance did not warrant a firing. The only reason mike holder is the AD is because Boone Pickens. Firing sean was more about getting back at eddie for either not getting as much attention of some personal vendetta.

Sean Sutton screwed himself, it was no secret to the OSU AD Mike Holder the problems Sean had in his personal life. After his fathers incident, the school couldn’t take another blow like that.

Pat Knight is blinded by his friendship.
