Nothing can be done about Bynum? Thunder did have a 7 foot monster and 6 fouls on the bench. But i do realize Mullens doesn't realize how big he is and would rather play like a sissy and not fight for position and shoot jumpers. " I want to be like Nowitzki." I got news for him if Nowitzki had his size he would be a total monster because he is not a sissy and Mullens is, or plays like one anyway.
Nevertheless, some of your ideas are good and some I disagree with.
Here is what I saw. Thunder fought hard 1st half. They were determined to not back down and concede the inside game. The inside stats were virtually the same, but our bigs were fighting hard and i thought and actually looked like Thunder was beating Lakers inside. They were shooting 50% at half scoring many baskets inside.
2nd half Lakers were moving there game outside. I thought "Yes, Thunder has backed Lakers down and forcing them into shooting outside shots. Yes Thunder is going to win." Fisher makes a 3 or 2 and Thunder just can't stand that another team might actually have to take more long outside jumpers than they do.
Not understanding they were on the verge of beating Lakers physically and mentally, Thunder immediately abandoned everything they had been doing such as fighting inside on defense and moving the ball and fighting for the inside score. Instead of moving the ball and working it inside, Thunder started playing ISO and jacking up 3's and other long range jumpers. Even when they did attack the rim, they were most often slapped down cause the LA bigs were camped and waiting seeing as there was no ball movement. They finished the game at 42.5% which means they shot considerably under 40% for the 2nd half. It is a mistake to think they shot 42.5% for the game. They shot a very winning shooting % of 50 in the 1st half and a very miserable % of probably around 34% for the second. It was almost two completely different game.
Even though they were down by 3 at half, I was terribly proud of them and everybody on the Thunder chat believed Thunder was on their way to winnin the game.
I don't know if they just got chicken and lazy or if them old guys on the Lakers are just in better shape than they are. Maybe they should just convert the next few practice sessions to running laps and I guess Coach should just run some laps right along with them just for letting them get away with their lazy chicken play in 2nd half.
Point #2 was your best thought except I am so disgusted with their jump shooting I wouldn't allow Ibaka or Krystic to take them wing shots you talked about. In fact I wouldn't allow anybody to take any jumpshots. If they can't get a shot at the rim and 24 seconds, just hand the ball to the ref and go back and set up for hang your head defense.
The second half was an embarrassment to Oklahoma, themselves and their coach. They proved Charles Barkley right. "The Thunder are a jump shooting team." And not a very good one I might add. OH well, I guess i do have other things to do than watch basketball. I learned from Darnell, that the "insiders" (inside Thunder organization I presume)do not really believe in this team, why should I bother?
