The 2-point conversion was a bad decision. He basically was ending the game with 6 minutes left. There was plenty of time to kick deep and hope that the defense could muster up a stop. I mean, maybe that was the deal. He didn't believe his defense could produce a stop at the time, so he was going to go for two and then kick an onside no matter what happened, so it really didn't matter to him. I disagree, you always stay within one possession if possible.

On the punt, I would have done the same thing. That didn't bother me near as much as the 2-point conversion.

The last play was stupid, after you had already admitted defeat by punting, then you act like you care about getting another score with 2 seconds left. It was embarrassing.

Stoops is starting to make a pattern of weird calls late in games. Remember the Texas "field goal". I mean, maybe 15% of the people in the stadium thought we might actually kick it when it was a 42 yarder, but nobody in the stadium thought we would kick it when it got moved back to a 47 yarder. He may as well have just lined up a play with all the real playmakers on the field. That is what Texas did, they knew we weren't kicking.

It will be interesting to see if these kinds of decisions persist as the season continues, especially late in tight games.

if ou is is pressured (behind) at any time in the 2nd half of a road game(no matter the quality of the opponent) u can bet the house there will be panic and the sooners will lose. this is why coach stoops will never be an nfl coach, because there are no iowa state's in the nfl..these things (poor game management decisions) happen time and time again
and u can bet the players KNOW IT. these guys did'nt just come in here off the turnip truck. they reflect the coaches lack of poise under pressure and play that way. can anyone remember the last time the sooners under stoops came back to win a game on the road late when behind? perhaps A and M in 04!!! otherwise, disasters everywhere. coach stoops has many strong points, but poise under pressure is NOT one of them.

I'm shocked that anyone could read this and disagree with anything Barry has said. I recognized all 3 of these mistakes (as any true football fan would) in real time as they happened. It blows my mind that anyone would defend any of those choices made by Stoops, they were all so stupid.

I'm a huge OU fan, and by extention a fan of Bob Stoops. I question the character of some of his chosen assistants however. Where is the guy with the guts to step up and say "wait coach this is not right."?

I'm not saying we should fire anyone, but we need to take a serious look at our program and try to figure out why we are getting out-coached week in and week out. We've lost the hunger, and the nothing-to-lose attitude we had in the first years of the Stoops era. I don't know how we can get it back, but if there is a way we need to find it!

I definitely Tramel's point on the two point issue with the best argument being the difference in pressure for the opposition and even the mindset of Stoops' Sooners. However, I don't understand the certainty Tramel pushes his point. Absolutely not is Stoops wrong on the issue without doubt. The Sooners had to have the 2 at some point, first or second touchdown. I am not sure why the issues of the punt and two point conversion are such big issues. I am much more concerned why our defensive staff cannot not make adjustments to an ineffective fron four (increase blitz packages) and why the offensive staff can't realize when it has a freshman/sophomore quaterback and throwing 58/50 times on the road is not the best idea. I was also shocked at how sharp and fast the offensive pace was against Iowa State only to not be used against Mizzou Saturday night. Those are MY 3 issues, where the game was decided and not the three issues after the game was decided.

I like coach Stoops, but as the conductor of this train (with his current railmen), the Sooner railway will keep stopping at the same locations year in and out. What are they? First stop: possible early non conference loss, Second stop: pivotal game with Texas to determine who goes forward. Third stop: Bedlam. Forth stop: Potential conference championship. Fifth stop: Another potential BCS Bowl blunder. Sixth stop: Excuse City, where ego and attitude rule. Final stop: The recruitment trail, where being aloof is not just an adventure but a way of life. Ex.- "hey kid we like you but we have to check our numbers and we'll get back to you". As you can see the BCS championship is not one of those stops. How sad!
