96-00? Texas and A&M both won the Big 12 in two of those years. Not sure if it was that big of a difference. Talk about upsets all you want but the South has never been an easy road.

This Conference, Berry, is a house of cards. It is the “Temp 10″. TT, OU, A&M, OSU, UT are the only interesting places to play with fan support, everywhere else is the SWC/Big 8 trash left over.

A&M has too much going for them as mentioned to be down forever. Missouri, Tech and even Kansas have had breakthrough seasons but don’t have the staying power of a good A&M team. The Aggies have given OU/UT 12 years now. Fran = Blake years….without the recruiting.

Same tired old the South is Superior now and always will be argument. Where was your judgment when the conference when OU was irrelevant from 96-00? Or How about A&M being mediocre since the day RC Slocum left? Did these same article get run out weekly when Nebraska and KState were the class of the league from 96-00? The south teams are only superior in money and ego. Colorado KState and Nebraska have all won titles in the Big XII. How is that possible with those teams having to play those far Superior South Teams? Give it a rest there are ups and downs. Biggest difference is the Poorer North schools have to work harder for the Highs.

Barry, no doubt things are interesting when you have two divisions and a conference championship game, but didn’t the Big-10 lack those before? I don’t remember the media ever coming down on that conference then, and now they swoon over its mediocre football now simply because they are inheriting Nebraska (and all those TV sets that state brings)? There will be more money to split among the Big-12 members and you still have two annual national powers in OU and Texas, plus you’ll get quality third and fourth teams (OSU, Tech, Missouri or A&M)every year. Honestly, what about the Big-10 – even with Nebraska – trumps that? Its Ohio State and everybody else there. I think you have to give the new arrangement a bit of chance before you write its epitaph.
