Great man and player and deserves all the praise he gets. However, Bob Feller and Hank Greenberg deserve the “Medal of Freedom” before “Stan the Man”.

Musial served in the army not as long as Greenberg, but his contributions to the game of baseball far outshine those of Hank Greenberg. There are only three players in baseball history who are in the all-time top 20 leaders in the all important offensive categories of batting average, homeruns and runs batted in. Those 3 members are: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Stan Musial. His good humor and gentlemanly manner throughout his lifetime make him a shining beacon for the youth of America. He is Stan the Man Musial and he deserves his award.

I wonder what Muhammad Ali did to advance the interests of the United States. Dodge the draft? Speak up for the enemy in a time of war?

Oh, well, at least he didn’t go advise the North Vietnamese delegation at the Paris Peace Conference the way Navy Lieutentant John Kerry did.
