My first OU game was in 1949 and living in Norman, put me in a prime spot for all of Bud’s, and Barry’s finest hours…..I lived the 47 game winning streak and was there when we lost to the Irish. The best thing about OU football, is the streak continues, with Bob Stoops………I met Switzer in LA, at a Sooner Booster club meeting in the 70s….a super dynamic person…..great article…loved it….Neil

PLEASE!!!!! Keep these Switzer stories coming! They are priceless. We need a book of these. These are things that people need to be reminded of…the people behind the stories instead of just the negative headlines. Thanks for reminding us about the ’78 OU-NU game….I remember that penalty.

I remember George Cumby being the guest on Switzer’s coaches show and him revealing that his game morning ritual was watching Deputy Dog. Later as the show was ending and the credits ran, he gave a sweet smile and a flutter finger wave goodby. Obviously a gentle man.
