Switzer was a criminal and bent NCAA rules beyond belief to get all those wins. I dont know why we compare him. Stoops has a pitiful record the last 5 years versus Top 25 Teams and 2009 is a disaster. Stoops needs to change some coaches or the moniker Big Game Boob is going to become permanent.

In the “close” games – what are their records when they were heavy favorites against lesser teams?

I’m a Longhorn, but I’m actually playing devil’s advocate on Mack:

19-4 adds up to 23 games decided by 3 points or less.
6-8 adds up to 14 games (12 if we take out the two non-Bradford losses, but if we’re playing that game, we’d have to take at least 1 from Brown for the K-State loss).

Does that perhaps show that Brown’s team plays closer games more often against less worthy opponents, and just barely pulls them out? I know that as a Horn, I’ve felt chagrined at not dominating a few games that I feel that we should have.

However, there’s no question that when we have the talent, especially in recent years, Mack pulls out the win much more often than not, and that’s certainly a great quality to have in a coach.

No offense intended, but Mack went thru 3 defensive coordinators to beat Bob. Sometimes change is necessary.

Big game Bob since 2005 is now 1-7. I think a change is in order. My opinion for what it is worth is that a more aggressive and motivated approach is needed rather than the ” we welcome the challenge ” approach we listened to for the last few years.

Very interesting info on Stoops, Carroll, Mack Brown and Tressel. I never would have guessed Mack’s record was that impressive in close games. Just for the sake of curiosity–I wonder how Urban Meyer (including record at Utah) and Nick Saban (including record at LSU) haved fared compared to Mack?
