Mr. Holieway has been an adult since he was 18. He has had some enormous opportunity that has been squandered, and has chosen to live a life of addiction and crime. These are the "apparent" facts when presented by media and his harshest critics. Jamelle is a kind and gentle person, willing to help when he can and very open and honest. He is not pretentious or self centered about his accomplishments nor is he boastful or full of pride. This is what his friends and family say of him. What is obvious is Jamelle Holieway has many people interested in his well being, but it is ultimately up to him to make the decision to seek and accept help for himself. This can be very hard for some who have experienced greatness only to drop it for a life of struggle and addiction. Intervention is a step, but only Jamelle can make the move toward sobriety and a life of responsibility. Good luck and god bless.

You can make all of the excuses you want to justify anything. We are all where we put ourselves. Mr. Holieway is no different. It's a real shame and a waste of talent and you can blame who ever you want for his problems. When you are not held responcible for your actions as is the situation with Mr.Holieway, you tend to continue the same path. Making it worse is all of the children he has fathered and will not or cannot support them. That's when it becomes everyones consern if you pay taxes.

Jemelle is my bother-in-law and he's a really good guy and tries to help anyone that he sees needs it. He does have problems of the past (who doesn't these days) but he is better now and becoming an even better person and also loving parent, family member, and friend.

I met Jamelle when I was living in OKC back in 2001-02. We had a brief relationship and while he had an addiction with weed he always presented himself well and conversed easily with others. I haven't seen him or talked to him since but I'm aware of the struggles he's having. I think people shouldn't be so quick to criticize and offer some help instead. Kind words and a sense of hope go a long way.

Jamelle is at least 40 now. The responsibility to change his life is solely on him now, not the people he went to college with 20 years ago.

Why can't someone from the University, or even Coach Switzer step in and try to do something with him or for him, have a mini intervention, help this lost soul out? He needs support from his Sooner family.

Everyone makes mistakes. He's always nice, respectful when I saunter up and will (clearly) speak with anyone. Hope he gets it worked out and wish him the best.

Jamelle has a problem with Meth and weed. His female companion is the mother of one of his children who happens to be a very good student and budding athlete. It is my understanding that Jamelle was working on a trash truck in a small town east of McAlester that shall remain nameless. I also understand that Jamelle is trying to clean up and has been doing much better with his addiction issues as of late. It's hard to make a living working a small town trash truck with child support to pay, the larceny might have been for items they really needed...not condoning his actions but until you walk a mile in his shoes...
