Tebow the favorite? Naturally

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow seems to be the Heisman Trophy favorite in what shapes up to be the most-competitive race ever, with two Heisman winners among the contenders.

And it’s only natural that Tebow is the favorite over OU’s Sam Bradford. Tebow’s team won the ballgame. When Florida beat Oklahoma 24-14 in the national title game, both quarterbacks played well, but Tebow played better, and voters won’t forget that.

If the Heisman voting had occurred in mid-January instead of early December, Tebow almost surely would have won, so voters in summertime remember.

Bradford still could win. So could Texas’ Colt McCoy, and frankly, a lot of voters will want to vote for McCoy, figuring if someone has a Heisman, who needs two? That seems sound reasoning to me.

Darkhorses abound, of course. Keep an eye on Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Claussen, if the Irish’s easy schedule propels Notre Dame to a good year. Someone from Southern Cal always makes noise. Ole Miss’ Jevan Sneed, who lost the quarterback derby at Texas with McCoy three years ago, will have a chance. Illinois quarterback Juice Williams, hero of that upset of Ohio State in 2007, could be the Big Ten nominee, which carries a lot of voting power. Oregon State’s Jacquizz Rodgers and Oklahoma State’s Kendall Hunter have the potential for huge rushing numbers, which will be required for a tailback to make a run. Ohio State sophomore Terrelle Pryor has the hype to at least get a campaign off the ground.

Heck, the Oklahoma defense could propel a candidate to victory. If Brigham Young’s Max Hall (early) or OSU’s Zac Robinson (late) could engineer an upset of the Sooners, they would be in the thick of the discussion.

But for now, Tebow is the clear front-runner, and that’s only natural.

I will be glad when Tebow is gone. He will be a flop in the NFL.

tebow shouldn’t of won his first heisman, there were better players. lets see how good he does this year without harvin getting 20 yds a play for him.

I was at the BCS National Championship game and I missed the part where Tebow played better than Bradford, clear that up for me…was it the lower completion percentage, the fewer yards or his yelling and jumping around when Harvin churned out the yardage?

Ah…Oklahoma homers bashing Tebow. No surprise.

But at least get your facts straight:

Bradford had just 25 more passing yards on 11 more attempts. But when you account for Tebow’s rushing yards, Tebow’s performance was far ahead of Bradford’s. Tebow had 109 yards rushing and Bradford had -18 yards. Thus, in terms of total yardage, Tebow had about 100 more yards.

Also, Tebow got better as the game went on, with his sloppy play coming in the first half and his brilliance coming the second. Bradford’s play detiorated.

Spend time worrying about the past, and you’ll lose this year, too.

Teeboo wont win it. Harvin created too much with his speed. I expect we will see a few more UF players arrested prior to the start of the season. May not have full team to field by then…

Tebow is a cry baby that will not be able to make it in the NFL. Harvin carried him the past 2 years and he does not have that this year. We will finally see the joke that he really is.

Look at all the Boomer Losers crying again, what’s the matter, can’t take that you can’t win a championship game and choke year after year? Face it, the Gooners are done.

Okies and Nebraskans will never have the population and talent of the South. Your states are far too overweight and the weather is not favorable year-round to produce top talent like Florida, Louisiana, Georgia and Texas can produce. OU is a joke and your Chief Wack ‘em Off at QB will get injured as soon as he faces a defense above Big 12 calibre. Tim Tebow is the Southern white athlete and pride of all below the Mason-Dixon Line, as were the Mannings during their college days. Okies, do not attempt to mess with the tradition, character and history of the SEC…you all will continue to to get burned on your broke azz reservations. By the way, OU’s president is a pedo and we all know it. Stay on your poor little campus in bumfrick Norman, Okla-mobile-Homa and enjoy your tribal welfare cheques. 84,000 fans is a joke and pathetic sporting venue…the Great Plains suck!

Teeblow will not win it. The Northern voters and most of the East coast voters will want to keep Archie Griffen as the only two-time winner and they won’t vote for little Timmy, the left coast won’t vote for Sam as they hate OU, and most people in these parts will cave to Mack’s crying and vote for Colt McCoy. If I were in Vegas I would put down a ton of cash on Colt right now, and I hate Texass just as much as any Sooner but I am sad to Say Colt has already won it. Plus you know ESPN will push him HARD this year and talk about how Texass was slighted last year beacuse of the three way tie that they feel should have been a two way tie to suite them.

The media loves Florida. Florida is where the Yanks reside during the winter months. Besides, they will probably try their hardest to give it to Chief Wack ‘em Off because he is an honor to all the broke Injuns in Okie Land who are living off “da gubment.” I will say Bradford wins it again, kind of like when Woodson won it over Tennessee’s Peyton Manning because they felt it was necessary to let the minority boy have it. Bradford is the crown jewel to many Natives in OK who don’t have many icons in this society, so he will probably win it again and then get plundered in the bowl game like Jason White did. We all know that America will not allow McCoy to win it, since he is a blue-eyed blonde white kid from the South…and this is an Obama-nation we are currently in. Somebody from OU or USC will get it, and it will DEFINITELY be a minority this time around…bet on it!

Tramel has to be joking when he mentions Notre Dame’s Claussen and Illinois’ Juice Williams. I usually enjoy this guy’s articles, but Tramel must not have watched much of Notre Dame football last season. Claussen is freckin’ terrible and a disgrace to the family name and tradition of QB’s! Illinois is also pathetic and plays in arguably the worst conference in all of college football, so mark off Juice and his fro. I think he is right on when he says to expect a player from USC to make it in, because we all know what media darlings the USC Trojans are.

To SEC “Superiority”: You, sir, are a racist and apparently lacking the intelligence to look beyond worn out stereotypes.

As I recall, Florida has just as many Native American (they were here long before you were) tribes as Oklahoma….and, unfortunately, just as many casinos. As for the collective weight of each state’s population, have you looked around Georgia, Lousiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and, yes, Florida??? All those grits are taking their toll !

The SEC is good, but as a whole, they weren’t the best in 2008. LSU stunk, Tennessee was bad, Alabama overrated (see Utah), Georgia disappointing. That only leaves Florida – which barely won the championship even though they played in their home state! The result may have been different if the game had been played ANYWHERE else.

Fine to have a football opinion and express it, SEC “Superiority”, but leave your small-minded racism and stereotypes where they belong – in Florida.

Some real hating going on here. Unhealthy amounts; it seems with some college football has evolved beyond mere fun and games and friendly rivalries and into a sort of twisted form of sadism (or since no one takes these people seriously perhaps masochism, but I won’t dwell on semantics).

SEC Superiority: racist much?

SEC Superiority…fans like you are the reason people hate the SEC. SEC fans are the only CFB fans i know that will bash every conference. Big 12 fans respect the Big 10 and Big 10 respect Big 12.

This just in……according to http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090701/ap_on_he_me/us_med_obesity_rankings

Among the most obese states are Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. The SEC wants ‘em HUGE!

One thing that most people dont remember is that Bradford did not have his #1 playmaker during the NC. Lets take Harvin from Florida and see if Tebow could produce the same way in that game. DOUBT IT! And to the SEC Superiority comment… you know what, ill give you that in recent yrs. (except last yr, OU UT TTech OKstate Mizz out-weighs Florida BAMA and Ole Miss) But when it comes to stereo types you refer to, the SEC has never and will never be stereotyped as the overall best conference of all time. That stereotype has never been created, maybe in you little swamp rat mind. Figure it out…

Tebow was bad for the first half of the title game. Percy Harvin was the difference in that game, not Tebow. Not even close. Bradford is better, and was better.

Even the mainstream media announcers and analysts admit that the SEC is the greatest conference in college football and has the most national titles. Also, who is this tool who posted above me trying to claim that the Big 12 teams had a better season than the SEC? The SEC, with the only exception being Bama, won all their bowl games. Texas Tech and Okie State choked after all the hype (Ole Miss crushed Tech in their home state of TX). The difference was defense, and the Big 12 didn’t have any. On the other hand, Tebow came through and wore down the OU defense like he did to all others during the season. Bradford is a great passer, but he doesn’t have the physical strength that Tebow has. Your jealousy is unbelievable! Besides, Okies are the most racist people today, and that is why your state voted AGAINST Obama by the largest margin. Oklahoma is all puritan Protestant hicks and half-breed squaws with obesity and diabetes. Why doesn’t OK ever field a team with mostly Okies? I mean, every state in the South is loaded with black athletes and fields their team with local talent, but you Okies have to cheer for Texans that you all envy so much up there in your reservation state you live in. At least three major Southern states were blue states and voted for Obama, including the old capitol of Virginia. Okla-Mobile-Homa is a joke and your state is filled with farmers and redskins. 0kies will always be the South’s rejects that we did not want. Now, get back to blowing it in bowl games like usual.

To “SEC”: You have once again shown your true colors – an basic inability to formulate a post without reference to race or stereotypes. Grow up.

Voting against Obama is as indication of intelligence, not racism. Unless, that is, one like trillions of dollars of debt, unlimited abortion on demand, killing human embroys in the name of scientific research, etc., etc.

But back to the topic at hand….. Here are the final COMPUTER standings from last year – FU #1, Tex #3, OU #5, Bama #8, TexTech #10, UGA #13, Missouri #17, Mississippi #26, Okla St #26, Nebraska #30, Kansas #33. If the SEC can’t put more than 4 teams in the top 50, just exactly where is the vaunted “superiority”? To save you time, there are 7 B12 teams in the same top 50 – TWICE as many as the SEC

And, since when are mainstream media and announcers the standard for excellence? These are the same hacks that wanted to break a 3-way Big12 tie by using the head-to-head record for two teams and throwing out the same head-to-head record for the other teams involved!

Reality Check, how about the fact that your Sooners can’t even beat Boise State or WV on a neutral field? How about the fact that the SEC teams dominated Big 12 teams in head-to-head match ups? How about the fact that it is almost impossible to go undefeated in a competitive conference like the SEC where the average stadium is around 96K? How about the fact that the SEC produces more NFL stars than any other? Name one school in the Big 12 that even compares to Vanderbilt, UGA or UF in academics in the Big 12… you can’t! Yeah, I agree those announcers and sports analysts were off the mark when they went along with the whole “OU and Jason White are the ‘Greatest Team of All-Time’” propaganda before K-State and LSU hammered your asses. SEC plays defense, the Big 12 doesn’t…that’s the main factor that determines the difference in bowl games for the teams from the two conferences.

Few would argue that the SEC has not been the dominant football conference over the past decade. But, they were not the best conference in 2008. Florida was very good (not great – great teams don’t lose at home), but the rest of the conference was not. Everyone who understands football knows that – arguing to the contrary only makes one appear to be whistling through the graveyard.

You really want to go down the academics route? Putting Florida and Georgia in Vanderbilt’s league is laughable. DYK that the University of Oklahoma leads the nation in National Merit scholars? I would put Texas, Missouri, and KU up against any SEC school (ourside Vandy) academically. Do your research before making inane comments – they only damage the rest of your attempted arguments.

P.S. I suspect you probably don’t want to talk about Florida’s current ranking with the police blotter…. I believe they are #1 with a bullet there, too.
