Well…at least they are playing with a chip on their shoulder and looking like the team from early in the season that was a top 15 team. Baseball is a funny sport, this team appears to finally be relaxed and playing like they were supposed to all season.

OSU has been on the short end of the NCAA selection committee in previous years. Hosting a regional in Arkansas…what’s with that??? Having to go to Louisville for a super regional when we were the higher ranked team??? And how about the Oliver fiasco from last year???

Just glad to see OSU is making the most of the opportunity…Go Pokes…one at a time, lets get’em tomorrow!

If baseball was like basketball and all 12 teams played in the conference tournament would this even warrant a discussion?

If you were to ask the question, is OSU one of the best 64 teams in the country? The answer would be, of course. From that perspective they should be included. However, just as in basketball you’ve got conference champs that receive an automatic invite even if they only got hot during that tournament. There is no perfect selection system. As an OSU fan, I’m ecstatic they’re included. I didn’t think they would get in and quite honestly didn’t feel they deserved it. But, are they one of the best 64 teams in the country? Of course they are and by that alone they should be included. Glad to see the NCAA got this one right.

Also glad to see that OSU is still considered a major baseball power just as Duke is still considered a major basketball power and Ohio State is still considered a major football power. The NCAA is what it is.

While I agree that the Cowboys probably should have been left out, I remember a couple of years when Holliday was coach that we finished 5 or 6 in conference and the NCAA committee took the team that finished 6 or 7 and left my guys at home (strength of schedule was a frequently cited reason). So, in the karma column, I feel like we were owed one.

In any case, thank you for throwing some coverage to college baseball in the past few weeks. It’s my favorite sport, and I feel like it’s ignored most of the time (even, it seems, by the NCAA baseball selection committee).
