Berry,

Instead of lambasting Bomar OU fans should be praising him. He could have taken a bunch of the other local heroes down with him but did not. OU fans best course of action might be to shut up and let a sleeping dog lie. You never know, you might get what you asked for. OU fans are beyond arrogant, they blissfully ignorant.

In the grand scheme of things, Bomar didn’t do anything more than countless big name guys have done at many schools. Most of them don’t get caught (you’re extremely naive if you deny it). Heck, Troy Smith took money from Boosters at Ohio State, was suspended a few games and later went on to win the Heisman Trophy. Bomar got a big head and made a mistake. He was wrong. If you saw the Outside The Lines Special on him a couple years ago, you would know that he is very remorseful and knows he made the biggest mistake of his life. What made his case different was Bob Stoops. Pete Carroll or Jim Tressell would have suspended him and swept it under the rug. Stoops obviously was a little more harsh. The people who get on here and act like Bomar owes them something (3 years later) or ruined their life need to get a life and get over themselves. Righteous Indignation is a stinky perfume…

Yes, the kid should have known better than taking the money. This being the real world, though, knowing better isn't always the compass that kids are following.
If we were all offered money for not doing anything, a great number of people would accept it. And a great number of those people would accept it without even asking questions.
If my boss at work told me he was giving me a bonus, and if anyone asked...."just say it was for a side project you worked on for us a while back..." I would more than likely deposit that check and think how nice it is that my boss appreciates me. Should I be villanized for the rest of my career for that?

Good to see things don't change amongst the staff apologists at the daily OK. Still saying nobody could've ever possibly known that Bomar and his pals were cheating. Who would've ever guessed?

Bomar.... I dont ever recall being called "unpopular" especially not by the media. Most unpopular kids dont drink beer on nation al tv or have hundreds of OU fans in the stands at their high school game Friday before the OU/TX game on saturday. and it is safe to say most high school coaches would have the sense to request the band not to play Boomer Sooner when the QB does something outstanding...but not Coach Bomar

Bomar was unpopular as OU's QB? That's not how I remember it.

I thought everyone was enamored with the strong arm and linebacker mentality?
