Not only do you have to assemble a staff and introduce yourself to the current players, but you have a limited amount of time to call committed recruits and convince others to sign in the spring.
Players who signed early would still ask for a release (as many did in Arizona when Lute Olson left), but the need to recruit wouldn’t be as dire if high school seniors could sign in the fall.
