Hey.......From Ohio, always loved the wishbone. Holieway was the best I've ever seen (NOT saying the best EVER, just the best I've seen...).

Mildren was the very best. He was a natural. Even showed the pros that the wishbone worked against their defenses. Still remember watching him drive the ball the down the field for the Colts during preseason of rookie year but having the drive end inside in the 20 because of an interception.
Jamelle had some problems that hurt him in my opinion and it influenced some other players, but he was gifted as an option QB.
JC never came close to beating texas so I would have him at 11 or 12 on my list. Just a preference I have for QBs.
Thomas Lott is probably my second favorite wishbone QB. Just didn't think folks could stop him. Too bad passing was not something he was proficient or it would have been even easier for him.
Jimmy Harris, Eddie Crowder, Jack Mitchell, Darrell Royal and Gene Calame all belong because they were the start of the monster.
Heupel belongs just because of the preseason speech he gave to the team and it led them to the national title. It really felt good winning that one. We have been lucky to have this men at OU.

Wow.
No Jamelle Holieway?
I thought Jamelle and Holieway were the 2 best option wizards I ever saw, and I saw every home game from '69-88, and about 2 dozen road games, and most of the Red RIver Wars (career choices cut that rate back a bunch starting in '89).
When Jamelle blew out his ACL against OSU in '87, I had the very conscious thought (pre-injury) that he was playing the best game of his career if you combine decision-making and athletic execution: it was a full-on match for Mildren. If you then throw in the fact that he was also playing against 17 YEARS OF DEFENSIVE FOOTBALL THEORY ABOUT HOW TO STOP THE WISHBONE, that makes his performance (and career) all the more remarkable (sorry about the shouting--just had to vent).
OK, I've said my piece.
Let the flaming begin.
