A Heisman for Vince?
Some people are speculating that Reggie Bush’s Heisman Trophy will be vacated. I don’t know if the Downtown Athletic Club can force Bush to give back the hardware, but it certainly can remove him from the rolls and annual honors. That’s the thing about the Heisman; it’s an ongoing award.
Steve Owens has talked extensively about the prestige and thrill of going back to New York every year and mingling with the other Heisman winners. It’s an exclusive club. Losing that Heisman perk is no small thing.
Which is why I say give the 2005 Heisman to Vince Young. The Texas quarterback deserved it anyway; he clearly was the best football player in America that season. Bush was a wonderful player, too, but in Young’s class. Young wouldn’t have the thrill of walking up to the podium and receiving all that attention from ESPN, as Bush did, but he would get to enjoy all the Heisman fruits past winners still enjoy.

Of course Vince should have won, giving it to Bush, even without the scandle, is/was bogus. But giving it to him now? Questionable.
So if Vince gets the Heisman due to forfeit………and we all do a little further math……..give OU a do-over in the National Title game and a win by forfeit (seems to me OU had to forfeit a few wins thanks to Bomar)……factor in the admitted mistakes by the NCAA officials at Oregon….and the calls at TT that same year (not admitted mistakes….but seriously……that was worse than a rec league game…..maybe even pick-up!!!!)……..
hmmmm
Sounds like another National Title to OU.
By the way, it must be cold in the Football office, what, with the door being left open from all of the players leaving. Good luck on the practice squad fellas. You can all be like Rudy as you fulfill your dream.
Thats ok….we need to get some hungrier kids in here anyway. Kids that don’t think so much of themselves and their ability. We need some guys who can lead, who are team oriented.
Maybe in five years or so….you can all play a few downs a game……maybe fill in for an injured player or play mop up because you weren’t really ready for the show.
Maybe Maintenance can install some automatic door closers on the football office door so it hits a few of them in the a@$ on their way out. Since they won’t be quick enough to get out of the way.
Bitter, yes!……..hate this ability to leave early garbage. Hate it in all sports.

Good idea. After the whining about Marion Jones’ prison term and the controversy about “performance enhancing” drugs, not to mention gambling by people intimately involved in sports, it boils down to what Jones’ judge termed “sportsmanship”. It is about time that integrity took over sports again.
