Zac the Man in Stillwater

Lost in the what’s-wrong-with-Bobby Reid talk and the Mike Gundy tirade against Jenni Carlson is this: OSU now plays its best quarterback. Zac Robinson can’t make all the throws that Reid could make, but he makes enough, and he tops it with excellent running ability.

Scrambles and options and quarterback draws, Robinson uses them all to gobble up yards and move the chains. Robinson is a better runner than Reid, which doesn’t seem like it ought to be so. Reid is bigger and faster. But Robinson has instincts and the desire to run. Robinson gained 116 yards on 13 carries against Texas Tech, giving OSU just its second 100-yard rushing quarterback since 1977. The Cowboys gorged Tech for 366 yards. It’s very difficult to lose a ballgame in which you rush for 366 yards, though OSU came close.

Gundy has had a brewing quarterback controversy for several games, dating back to last season. Why was Robinson in at the end of the Bedlam game last season? Now we know. Coaches thought he gave them the best chance to win that game.OSU is all-in on that idea. No quarterback controversy in Stillwater. Zac Robinson is the man.

I was relieved to see that it was not you who got that well deserved tongue lashing from Mike Gundy. I taught you in second grade and have always been proud of you and your work.

Journalism does not need liars. We have enough of those in other places. Carlson needs to move to the tabloids.

Just read your article about Jenni being a good reporter…something to that nature. She is a terrible reporter all of you should be ashamed. One one hand we have her tabloid style writing and then on the other hand we have her inablity to structure a coherent sentence.

Sounds like she is not going to be reprimanded for her actions and if I did reside in the state of Oklahoma I would ban your paper. My parents who do live there are doing so this very morning.

Since I don’t live there and instead live in Dallas I will be calling my friends who are advertising executives and beg them to cease business of any kind with The Oklahman…I have a feeling though… Boone has already beat me to it.

What is lost, it would seem, in the debate over what Jenni Carlson said is the truth.

She obviously would not know the truth if it walked up and smacked her over the head with a newspaper. The majority of people in Oklahoma hate her because of her horrible articles already. Apparently she is a glutton for punishment. I find it abhorrent that someone who takes their opinions and bends the facts to match the outcome they want is allowed to continue contributing to your paper in a serious manner.

If Jenni Carlson were writing an op-ed piece (on an op-ed page)and she wanted to toss about wild and unfounded accusations, she would at least have an excuse. She would still sound like a prattling idiot, but that would be her perogative. What is NOT her perogative is to write an article for the sports page – which is supposed to be reporting facts – and without citing any real sources and without having any knowledge of the topic at hand, go off on a diatribe that attacks not the SPORTS prowess of a young man, but his own personal worth.

This young lady is out of control. She is a terrible journalist and she is, sadly, right at home in your paper. I used to receive the Daily Oklahoman but have sense thought better of it. It is, for lack of a better phrase, a piece of trash. Ninety percent of the time the news is innacurate or out of touch. If I want to know the news I know where NOT to go. It has gotten so bad that I have started refusing to even take the free sample papers those door to door newspaper commandos offer me in an attempt to lure me back to your circulation.

And you know the sad part of all this is that Ms. Carlson is an idiot who got exactly what she deserved and yet it really, truly, ultimately is not her fault. It’s YOURS. You hired the imbecile, you allow her crap she calls writing to make it into your sports section, and here you stand – defending her. As pathetic as she is, you sir, take the cake.

And for the record, I am not one of those disgruntled OSU fans to whom everyone seems to want to attribute any and all support of Mike Gundy. I have no interest at all in either OSU or OU sports. I do, however, have an interest in journalistic integrity.

I wish I could say the same for you.

Nice comments Melissa. Jenni has no place in sports, her comments are a personal attack and completely devoid of fact. Pitiful she is still working for the rag known as The Jokelahoman but even more pitiful is the fact that Tramel supports her ability which bring up his comments as opinion instead of fact. Nice job of lumping your ability with the garbage we have all come to expect from the worst rag in the country… the Daily Jokelahoman.

Jenni Carlson and the newspaper should offer an apology to Reid and his family ASAP…however it may be too late.

What also goes unnoticed is Jenni’s opening paragraph about the chicken that took place after the game. Was she even at the game. I thought she stayed in Oklahoma instead of going to the game. How would she know what his mom fed him? Is what counts for a viable fact now…”my friend, who saw Bobby Reid after the game said his mom fed him chicken” and somehow connecting this to the reason he no longer starts?

Robinson is making quick decisions and seeing the entire field as well as the other reasons you mention. Not saying that Bobby may have developed those same instincts, but many oSu fans have seen this since the aTm game last year.

Pathetic. For you and the DOK to try to defend Carlson’s piece about Bobby is simply pathetic. It can’t be defended. Don’t you know that?
