Barons’ Teubert appreciates support

Approximately 250 fans attended the Oklahoma City Barons first practice.

Defenseman Colten Teubert, in his third season in OKC, said the Barons steadily have built interest.

“It’s awesome that Barons fans have really grown,” Teubert said. “This is my third year. It’s nice to see we’re growing through the city. Hopefully we’ll sell this barn out for a playoff game.”

Teubert, who played 46 games for the Barons last season and 24 with the Edmonton Oilers, is familiar with the hockey history in Oklahoma City.

“There was an adjustment from the Central League,” Teubert said. “There were a lot of faithful Blazers fans here. Obviously when (OKC) lost that team it kind of went downhill.

“People with the Barons (organization) and players are trying to get the community involved. It shows the fans and people of Oklahoma City we love this town and appreciate the support.”
