Rob Daum will not be the first coach of the Oklahoma City Barons, an Edmonton radio station is reporting.
Edmonton’s iNews 880 Sports reported Tuesday that the Oilers had chosen not to renew the contract of Daum, who coached the Oilers’ American Hockey League affiliate in Springdale for the last season and a half. The Springfield Falcons finished in last place in the AHL’s Atlantic Division last year, finishing 25-39-12-4.
Daum formerly coached at the University of Alberta.
In addition to a coach for the Barons, the Oilers are still without an Assistant General Manager that will run the club. Oilers President of Hockey Operations Kevin Lowe said last month that the team would like to have an Assistant GM in place by the draft on June 25.
