The Oklahoma City Barons have been given five more home dates by the American Hockey League.

The Barons full schedule, which will include 40 home dates, will be released later this summer.

In addition to their Oct. 9 home opener at the Cox Center, the Barons will host games on Nov. 5-6, Dec. 17-18 and Jan. 9. The AHL gives each club six guaranteed home dates in advance of the release of the complete schedule. Opponents for the games will not be knowqn until the full schedule is released.

The home opener is on a Saturday–a day neither Oklahoma nor Oklahoma State have a football game.

Both pairs of dates are Fridays and Saturdays while the January date is a Sunday.

Bob Funk Jr., owner of Prodigal Hockey, said the club was approaching 1,000 individual season-ticket sales. That doesn’t include corporate or non full-season packages. He said the team’s goal was 2,000 individual season ticket sales in the first season.

Funk also said a mascot had been chosen for the team and would be announced soon.

Cool, glad to have you Ryan. Look forward to reading your articles throughout the season.

Thanks. Looking forward to it.

Hey Ryan!!!

Glad to have hockey back… Just out of curiosity who is your favorite NHL team? … No cop outs , dont say the Oilers HAHA!!!!!

I won’t cop out. I started out as a Blackhawks fan but drifted away in favor of Colorado (mostly because of Patrick Roy). I’ve come back to Chicago gradually over the last few years since Rocky Wirtz took over, though.

I have been a Red Wing fan my entire life since I grew up in Michigan. It is great to see OKC growing up. We have a great BBall team and now we have “Real Hockey”. I just hope the news realizes hockey is a real sport and not put it beneath curling.
