Owasso native Trisha Yearwood’s Food Network show, “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen,” earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Culinary Program this week, according to a news release.

The show’s third season begins airing Saturday, May 25. It has been only one year since the premiere episode debuted, but the show has found a huge audience that enjoys joining the country music star/best-selling cookbook author, her friends and family each week as they make their cherished Southern recipes.

George Jones’ funeral is taking place this morning at The Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn. As previously reported, the service is open to the public.

National television networks CMT, GAC, RFD, and FamilyNet, as well as local Nashville stations WKRN 2, WSMV 4, WTVF 5, WZTV 17 are broadcasting the funeral service live, with radio partners WSM 650AM and SiriusXM Willie’s Roadhouse (Channel 56) broadcasting the service.

Norman native Vince Gill and Owasso resident Trisha Yearwood are among the venerable country and R&B artists featured in Universal Music Group’s new compilation series “Ballad.”

Owasso resident Trisha Yearwood may be a Food Network chef these days, but she showed off a slimmer figure Sunday during the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

The Grammy winner appeared as a presenter on the Las Vegas telecast, which featured a big performance by her husband, Garth Brooks, and fellow country superstar George Strait.

7:00 p.m.: As promised, our co-hosts – Oklahoma superstar Blake Shelton and first-time ACM Awards co-host Luke Bryan are getting the show off to a musical start, performing Blake’s raucous, hip-hop-infused new single “Boys ‘Round Here.” Rocker Sheryl Crow, looking sassy in a short gold dress, are now joining them, and now here come Blake’s wife Miranda Lambert and Pistol Annie looking flat-out sexy to back him up.

Oklahoma country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, who live in Owasso, recently returned to Leogane, Haiti, to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s 29th annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project. They were among the nearly 600 volunteers who helped to build 100 homes in the Santo community in partnership with families affected by the 2010 earthquake, according to a news release.
