Republic Nashville has officially signed Cassadee Pope to its roster. The young singer-songwriter emerged while competing on NBC’s “The Voice” and winning the Season 3 title last December.

Chosen for Team Blake by Oklahoma country music superstar Blake Shelton, Pope excelled throughout the competition, displaying diverse musical tastes and talents, covering songs like Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Behind These Hazel Eyes” and Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn.” After a performance of “Over You” – honoring her mentor and his wife and fellow Tishomingo resident Miranda Lambert – the tune catapulted to the No. 1 spot on the iTunes All Genre Chart.

“I am so excited to be joining the very talented Republic Nashville family. I am so passionate about my music and I couldn’t be more excited to have this amazing team to back me as I embark on this next chapter in my career,” said Pope in a news release.

Big Machine Label Group President Scott Borchetta echoed those sentiments.

“Cassadee was a standout from day one and once she delivered her incredible version of Miranda Lambert’s ‘Over You,’ I started working over my NY label partner Monte Lipman (CEO of Republic Records) to try to convince him that Cassadee belonged in Nashville,” Borchetta said in the release. “Each week Cassadee continued to knock down big Country songs by Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and Faith Hill, and after she won we were THRILLED to find out that Cassadee was on the same page with us and wanted to come to Nashville. The BMLG Team is over the top excited about Cassadee Pope!”

Republic Nashville President/BMLG EVP Jimmy Harnen added in the release, “Cassadee simply has it all! Phenomenal singer, incredible stage presence, an endearing and charming personality…she’s a star! Everyone at Republic Nashville and the Big Machine Label Group is simply over the top about welcoming her to the family!”

Pope’s best-of album, “The Voice: The Complete Season 3 Collection,” catapulted into the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart less than a week after her victory. She has also made national television appearances on “Today,” “Live! With Kelly & Michael” and “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” among others.

Pope was Team Blake’s second straight “The Voice” winner, following Jermaine Paul’s Season 2 victory. The fourth season of NBC’s hit reality TV show, featuring Shelton, Adam Levine and new coaches Usher and Shakira, will premiere on March 25.

Wednesday Video Spotlight: Adley Stump covers Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”

adley stump - hallelujah

Tulsa native Adley Stump, a country singer-songwriter best known as a contender on Season 2 of “The Voice,” recently released a lovely version of Leonard Cohen’s oft-covered ballad “Hallelujah.”

There have been countless renditions of “Hallelujah” done over the years; in fact, “The Voice” Season 3 cast and competitors recently performed the song as a tribute to Newtown, Conn. But I particularly like how Adley’s deep croon complements Cohen’s epically sad song.

The Oklahoma State University grad’s version of “Hallelujah” is available for download from iTunes and Amazon. Adley talks about the challenges of covering the Cohen song in this video:
