Video: Shiny Toy Guns release today “Fading Listening,” new song from upcoming album “III”

Los Angeles-based electronica/indie rockers Shiny Toy Guns, who have Shawnee ties, have released today “Fading Listening,” the next offering from their upcoming album “III,” due out Oct. 22.

The band is also announcing details regarding a select run of major market headlining dates starting Oct. 22 on the release of “III,” according to a news release. (Unfortunately, there are no Oklahoma stops on the eight-city tour.)

Already supported by Los Angeles tastemaker station KCRW, “Fading Listening” reveals a different side of the Shinys. Known for their electro-rock burners like “Le Disko,” “You Are The One” and most recently “Waiting Alone,” the band tries out a new vibe with “Fading Listening.” The band’s vocalists Carah Faye and Shawnee native Chad Petree share vocal duties this soft, moving track.

Look for a remix from DJ/producer Treasure Fingers to be available soon.

Shiny Toy Guns is Faye (vocals), Petree (vocals/guitar), Shawnee-bred Jeremy Dawson (keyboards/bass) and Mikey Martin (drums).

Video: Shiny Toy Guns “Waiting Alone” (AKA #LOVERUNNER)

Synthpop/indie rock band Shiny Toy Guns, which has Shawnee roots, released today a sweeping nearly 7-minute video titled #LOVERUNNER, billed as the “visual interpretation” of the group’s new single “Waiting Alone.” Here is the Shinys’ description of the unusually cinematic video:

The story begins as “the loverunner” portrayed by singer, Carah Faye, receives a text from a lost love interest in Brooklyn NY; 4000 miles away from her home in Hollywood. In a fury of emotion, the loverunner bursts out her door, and prepares to run, on foot, all the way across the United States. Through storms, canyons, rivers and mountains, she makes her journey. But along the way, “The Chosen One”, portrayed by singer Chad Petree, tries to stop her, slow her down, and destroy her; preventing her from reaching her love.

Shot over 6000 miles and over 28 days of traveling, LOVERUNNER is one of the most dramatic and intense projects the band has ever attempted. Directed by Luke Ebrel and Edgar Morias.

“Waiting Alone” is the debut single from the group’s forthcoming album “III,” due out Oct. 23 on Five Seven Music. It will be the first album for the band since reuniting with original vocalist Carah Faye Charnow.

The Grammy-nominated band includes bassist/synth player Jeremy Dawson and singer/guitarist Chad Petree, who grew up in Shawnee.

“The tune has Chad and Carah together as a duet, which is classic Shiny Toy Guns, and the chorus is just something we believe just grabs and holds on tight. What’s funny is that we wrote the chorus a long time ago, it stood the test of time and now it’s a lead off single,” Dawson told AltPress.com.

“It’s a love song. It’s a story that everyone has dealt with in life. The lyrics reflect when you are blindly in love and you don’t listen to the good advice from your friends. You just wait alone for that person that probably isn’t good for you to finally notice you. You’re waiting for this love to finally come home and give you the attention you deserve and desperately want.”

To go along with “Waiting Alone,” the band has been working on “LOVERUNNER,” which they’ve described on ShinyToyGuns.com as “an unbelievable journey filmed across 6,000 miles of the United States over the course of … 25 days. One of the largest and most extensive projects we have ever attempted, #loverunner is the visual and video interpretation of our single ‘Waiting Alone.’”

The completed project is due in July, but the band has recently released three previews:
