Shawnee singer-songwriter Samantha Crain has been named a Rolling Stone Artist to Watch.

As part of the feature, RollingStone.com is featuring her cover of Sufjan Stevens’ “Romulus” with Norman fiddler Daniel Foulks.

According to RollingStone.com, the Dale High School graduate first heard the track while on a family vacation at age 17, as her dad drove through mountain roads in Colorado and New Mexico.

Shawnee singer-songwriter Samantha Crain has released the music video for her gorgeous ballad “The Pattern Has Changed.” It is the second song from her third full-length album, “Kid Face,” to get a video.

John Hanson shot and directed the video for “The Pattern Has Changed,” which is simple but achingly poignant, in contrast to the high-tech, flippy fun of Samantha’s video for “Never Going Back.”

“Kid Face” is the follow-up to 2010′s “You (Understood),” which received praise from Rolling Stone, SPIN, New York Times and NPR and made my top 10 list for that year.

Norman Music Festival Saturday schedule

NORMAN – The sixth annual Norman Music Festival concludes today in downtown Norman.

The Joy Formidable, the Welsh noise-pop band led by singer Ritzy Bryan, will be this year’s headliner, performing at 9:30 tonight on the Main Stage, near the corner of Porter Avenue and Main Street on the east side of downtown.

The organizers of the Norman Music Festival have revealed a full festival schedule, and it is vast and impressive.

The schedule is listed in reverse chronological order, with Saturday’s final performer first and Thursday’s festival-opening act last. However, organizers noted on Facebook that the schedule is subject to change.

Shawnee singer-songwriter Samantha Crain has been named one of Rolling Stone’s 20 Must-See Acts at Austin, Texas’ South by Southwest festival 2013.

Iggy and the Stooges, Vampire Weekend, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and former Dixie Chick Natalie Maines also made the list, so Crain is in good company.

Oklahoma City kindie rock duo Sugar Free Allstars have been added to the growing list of Sooner State bands playing the South by Southwest Conference and Festival coming up in Austin, Texas.

The Allstars announced today on Facebook that they will be part of the lineup of the two-day Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child Family Music Meltdown 2013 showcase set for March 14-15 at the Tamale House East.
