There has been an incredible outpouring of prayers and sympathy from around the world since deadly and devastating tornadoes ripped through Moore and south Oklahoma City this afternoon, less than a day after Shawnee and Carney were among the Oklahoma towns to be ravaged Sunday by twisters.

As you can see in this NewsOK video, Broken Arrow native Kristin Chenoweth sat down with my excellent colleague Silas Allen Saturday before receiving an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Oklahoma City University.

Chenoweth graduated from OCU with a bachelor’s degree in music in 1990 and a master’s degree in opera performance in 1992.

Tony Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth, Chesapeake Energy’s Martha Burger, former The Oklahoman Editor Ed Kelley and Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis will receive honorary degrees from Oklahoma City University during Saturday’s commencement ceremonies.

Oklahoma City University will award four honorary degrees and confer bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees to more than 850 students during two ceremonies Saturday in the Henry J.

The Oklahoma native has been cast to play the sister of Matthew Broderick’s character in a yet-untitled CBS pilot from “Scrubs” writer/producer Tad Quill, according to TVLine.com.

The Emmy- and Tony-winning singer/actress also appeared Wednesday night on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” where she talked about the terrible accident she suffered last year on the set of “The Good Wife,” her experiences in the hospital, her love life, her adoration of junk food and her loathing of fish.
