Check out Wayne Coyne, frontman for Oklahoma City-based psychedelic rockers The Flaming Lips, in this appropriately bizarre commercial for Virgin Mobile.

The Lips are getting plenty of exposure this spring as the prepare to release their 13th studio album, “The Terror,” on April 2.

As previously reported, The Lips debuted tonight at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, a film titled “A Year in the Life of Wayne’s Phone,” that – yes, you guessed it – features more than a year’s worth of footage from Coyne’s iPhone.

The band also will play “The Warner Sound Captured by Nikon” showcase at SXSW on Thursday at the Belmont. The Lips will perform Friday at Auditorium Shores, too.

In addition, the band will hit the road this spring on a tour in support of “The Terror,” starting with March 29-31 performances at Lollapalooza Brazil. The Lips have a four-city U.S. tour with The Black Keys planned as well.

In honor of “The Terror’s” debut, the band also will give an April 3 performance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
