Oklahoma country music superstar Blake Shelton’s current hit single “Sure Be Cool If You Did” reached the No. 1 position on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs today, marking his fastest rise to date, according to a news release.

“Sure Be Cool If You Did” is off the Tishomingo resident’s upcoming Warner Bros. Records release “Based On A True Story….” due out March 26. It is available for pre-order at Store.BlakeShelton.com.

The Ada native also was presented with a surprise plaque on stage by Sheryl Crow during Tuesday Night Supper Club’s “Sheryl Crow and Friends” event in honor of his Grammy-nominated album, “Red River Blue,” which recently earned platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Starting July 19 in Virginia Beach, Va., fans can catch Shelton live on his “Ten Times Crazier Tour,” which will feature special guests Mercury Recording artist Easton Corbin and Academy of Country Music New Female Vocalist of the Year Jana Kramer. Shelton will bring his tour to Tulsa’s BOK Center on Oct 4. For more information, go to www.bokcenter.com.

ACM Awards co-host, Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year and three-peat Male Vocalist of the Year, Shelton is one of the “most versatile of contemporary country singers” (The New York Times). With seven consecutive No. 1 singles (12 overall), Blake’s infectious multi-week No. 1 hit, “Honey Bee” holds the record for the fastest-selling digital platinum single for a male country solo artist. In addition, Shelton’s passion for country music and his commitment to mentoring his teammates on NBC’s hit reality show “The Voice” make him a strong ambassador for country music.
