Video: Previewing Saturday’s Art with a Heart 2013, benefiting Oklahoma pediatric cancer patients
In this NewsOK video, my fine colleague Angi Bruss previews a great charity event coming up this weekend: Art With a Heart.
Art with a Heart is a silent art auction fundraising event organized by the Tri Delta alumnae chapter of Oklahoma City, Edmond and Norman. The artwork for the silent auction is created by children in the art therapy program at the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
This year’s event is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday (bidding will end at 8:30 pm) at the Children’s Hospital Atrium, 1200 N Children’s Avenue (formerly Phillips Ave.).
Art with a Heart is more than just a fundraiser. The event features these young artists and honors them along with their families. For this one night, these children are the center of attention, not because they have cancer, but because they have created special works of art.
Tri Delta’s national philanthropic focus is children’s cancer research, and the alumnae have chosen the Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association to be the beneficiary of the Art with a Heart proceeds in 2013. The association is a nonprofit group that helps children and their families cope with the emotional, physical and financial struggles associated with cancer.
