Winners revealed in Sandi Patty’s Water4 contest; singer travels to Sierra Leone with nonprofit

The Tweeters have tweeted, the Pinners have pinned and the Facebook and Instagram posts are in. Five-time Grammy Award-winning Christian singer Sandi Patty and Richard and Terri Greenly, co-founders of Water4, have announced winners of the Water4 Holiday Initiative, “What Does Water Mean To You?”
Through Facebook, Twitter, Instragram and Pinterest users were encouraged to upload personal photos and videos which express the answer to the question, “What Does Water Mean to You?” For each image uploaded, a $10 donation was made to Water4. Supporters posted, and the Water4 team named three winners: Lisa Hays of Marietta, Michael Milligan of Edmond and Melissa Curry Wilson of Oklahoma City.
For their thought-provoking and evocative vignettes, each will have a well dug and pump installed in their family’s names. Furthermore, each winner will receive four hand-crafted, fair-trade bracelets made by women in Delhi, India, according to a news release.

A loyal Water4 supporter, Patty served as guest judge for the contest. However, Patty’s involvement does not stop there.
The Oklahoma City area resident accompanied the Water4 team on its trip to Sierra Leone earlier this month. There, Patty engaged with the local community at various drilling sites and helped to install a pump with the Water4 crew. While in Africa, Patty also visited communities that have completed wells to see how clean water changes lives.
“I am deeply moved that the Water4 team is including me on this incredibly important mission. Water4 is tackling the global water crisis with their simple and achievable solution — teaching people around the world to develop their own water well drilling, pump manufacturing, and water services enterprises. Water4 is not only providing life-sustaining clean water to these communities, but also extending employment opportunities to its members. I could not be more honored and thrilled to be a part of this beautiful mission,” said Patty in the news release.
While on the trip, the singer even met the president of Sierre Leone, she wrote on her Facebook page.
“What a weekend we’ve had in Sierra Leone! Blown away by what God is doing in these villages through Water4. Hope is rising!!!” she wrote on Facebook last week.
