Buffalo Lounge joins ACM@UCO to promote Oklahoma musicians at Wormy Dog Saloon; Parker Millsap to play free show Thursday
Thursday marks the beginning of a new partnership between The Wormy Dog Saloon, the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) and The Buffalo Lounge, a brand created by the Oklahoma Film & Music Office, The Idea Collective and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber in 2011 to spotlight Oklahoma artists at Austin’s South By Southwest Festival.
The Wormy Dog event will showcase an Oklahoma artist on the third Thursday of every month at 10 p.m. at the Wormy Dog Saloon, 311 East Sheridan Ave. in Bricktown.
The concert series kicks off with a performance by Parker Millsap, who will take the stage at 10 p.m. Millsap has quickly become one of Oklahoma’s rising stars. He is the resident artist at The Deli in Norman, playing every Tuesday from 7-9 p.m., and in 2012, joined deadCENTER film festival’s Education Outreach event at Wayne School in Wayne, where the Oklahoma Film & Music Office programmed a full-scale concert during the lunch hour.
ACM@UCO has a nationally recognized music education and performance program. Students are taught by accomplished musicians, production experts and music business professionals. Through ACM@UCO, students connect to the music industry through auditions, live performances, industry showcases, as well as a web-based database of talent. Many ACM@UCO bands and artists continue to succeed long after they graduate.
Millsap’s performance begins at 10 p.m. Thursday. The show is free.
