See “The Metro,” a new photo exhibit by Doug Hoke, opening tonight in the Plaza District
A new exhibit of photographs by Doug Hoke, The Oklahoman‘s director of photography, is opening tonight at PhotoArt Gallery, 1738 NW 16 in the Plaza District.
Titled “The Metro: Through the Eyes of Doug Hoke,” the show will feature 40 color and black-and-white images taken throughout central Oklahoma.

The opening reception is set for 5:30 to 8 tonight.
Doug’s images depict include macro, rural and urban scenes and automobiles.
“I’ve lived in the Oklahoma City metro my entire life, most of that with a camera in tow,” Doug told The Oklahoman‘s Fine Art Editor Rick Rogers. “As a photographer for almost 40 years, looking, watching, observing and taking notice of what is special or different is second nature to me.
“What makes something special to me? It may be the way the light hits an object that catches my eye, or an unusual interaction between subjects. In my eye, tiny details or the blurring of color can transform the ordinary into something new and abstract. Through these photographs I hope to make visible what you may have overlooked.”
“The Metro: Through the Eyes of Doug Hoke” is the first of a new series of exhibit PhotoArt Gallery will be showing.
