Channing Tatum – who showed off his romantic side in “The Vow,” his sense of humor in “21 Jump Street” and practically everything else in “Magic Mike” this year – has been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2012.
Oklahoma country music superstar Blake Shelton also has earned a spot on the magazine’s annual roster of celebrity hunks. Here’s what People had to say about the Tishomingo resident:
2012 has been a banner year for the country singer: He’s the breakout star of The Voice, the Academy of Country Music’s reigning male vocalist of the year, and just earlier this month, he nabbed three CMA Awards, even sharing an emotional win with his wife of 18 months, Miranda Lambert, for song of the year. But what makes Shelton, 36, a true star in her eyes? He’s “very caring and loyal,” Lambert tells PEOPLE.
As part of its Sexiest Man Alive special edition, Shelton also was chosen as Oklahoma’s representative for People’s “The United States of Sexy” gallery of handsome guys from around our very fair nation – and the magazine quoted one of my interviews with the hit-making singer in the process:
The country crooner has made his hometown Ada proud, winning a Denbo Diamond Award at age 16 (the highest honor Oklahoma awards its young entertainers)– but the transition to the big time hasn’t always been easy.”You know, being just a redneck from Oklahoma, I’ve learned the hard way that it’s a different world to step into that Hollywood spotlight,” the Voice judge told The Oklahoman.
Others listed on People’s Sexiest Man Alive roster include Chris Hemsworth, Denzel Washington, Ben Affleck, Richard Gere, Damian Lewis, Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd and Tatum’s “Magic Mike” co-star Matt Bomer.
