Video: Wanda Jackson releases “Am I Even a Memory?” video with Justin Townes Earle, playing “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Nov. 20

Oklahoma music icon Wanda Jackson, who last month turned 75, has released the video to “Am I Even a Memory?,” a twangy, heartbroken ballad from her new album “Unfinished Business.”

The Queen of Rockabilly covered the Greg Garing song as a duet with acclaimed alt-country singer/songwriter/producer Justin Townes Earle, who also produced her 31st studio album.

“Justin is a new and up-and-coming country singer for the most part … and that’s where his heart is. So, he wanted to see me scale down the band and pull me out front a lot more and just let the main part of the song, the interesting part of the song, be my performance,” Jackson told me in a recent interview. “He chose some very good, outstanding musicians. They came in the studio and I was in studio with them, so that’s always nice to have the live music right there that you can sing to rather than have the pre-recordings.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, a Maud native and longtime Oklahoma City resident, is currently on tour in Germany. But she will return to the United States to perform next Tuesday, Nov. 20 on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” she revealed on Twitter (@wandaandwendell). “The Tonight Show” airs at 10:35 p.m. weekdays on NBC.
