Video: Trailer for the movie adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s “The Host” debuts

Fans of Stephenie Meyer’s paranormally popular “The Twilight Saga” have something to take their minds off Friday’s debut of the fifth and final film based on the saga, “Breaking Dawn – Part 2.”
The full official trailer for “The Host,” an alien love story based on Meyer’s best-selling book of the same name, has debuted online.
Starring Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Diane Kruger, Jake Abel and William Hurt, “The Host” centers on a parasitic alien “Soul” that is injected into the body of one of Earth’s last remaining alien-free humans, Melanie Stryder (Ronan). Instead of carrying out her race’s mission of taking over the Earth, the alien forms a bond with her host and sets out to aid other free humans.
Written for the screen and directed by Andrew Niccol (“Gattaca”), the movie opens in theaters March 29.
Earlier this month, I got the chance to travel to Los Angeles to attend the junket for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” Look for my feature on Stephenie Meyer Wednesday and much for “Twilight” coverage throughout the week.
