Listen: Thompson Square previews “If I Didn’t Have You,” lead single from upcoming sophomore album

Reigning ACM Vocal Duo of the Year and current CMA Award nominee Thompson Square – the teaming of Miami, OK, native Keifer Thompson and his wife Shawna – is giving fans a sneak peek of the duo’s highly-anticipated first single from its upcoming sophomore album.
“If I Didn’t Have You” is a power ballad that showcases the strength and versatility of both Keifer and Shawna Thompson’s voices as well as the couple’s tenderness and love for one another.
“ ‘If I Didn’t Have You’ is a story about two people who rely on each other to get through the tough thing we call life,” Keifer said in a news release. “We all have someone who we can go to for encouragement and this is our story.”
Written by Keifer and Shawna Thompson alongside Jason Sellers and Paul Jenkins, “If I Didn’t Have You” was penned by the same foursome that collaborated on Thompson Square’s award-winning hit single, “I Got You.”
The single impacts country radio on Monday, Oct. 29, and the digital single will be available everywhere the following day. Until then, fans can hear a special 90-second preview of “If I Didn’t Have You” by visiting Thompson Square’s website, www.thompsonsquare.com.
Also on Tuesday, Oct. 30, Thompson Square will perform a special acoustic StageIt show live from Nashville at 2 p.m. During the “Single Release Show,” Shawna and Keifer Thompson will chat with fans, take requests and premiere their brand new single, “If I Didn’t Have You” as well as perform acoustic versions of the duo’s smash hits including “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” “I Got You,” “Glass” and more.
Tickets for the StageIt show are available now. Tickets are limited and can be secured by clicking here. All proceeds from the show will benefit ChildFund International. The top three donors will receive a personally autographed gift from Thompson Square.
Thompson Square will compete for Duo of the Year and New Artist of the Year two nights later at the 46th Annual CMA Awards, broadcasting live Nov. 1 on ABC from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Just last week it was announced that Thompson Square will join award-winning country star Luke Bryan on his first headlining tour, the 2013 “Dirt Road Diaries Tour,” beginning Jan. 17 in Evansville, Ind.
Reigning Academy of Country Music Vocal Duo of the Year, Thompson Square has earned a long list of accolades in its short time on the country music scene. Signed to Stoney Creek Records, the husband/wife duo’s No. 1 smash, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” earned them two Grammy nominations as well as an American Music Award nod, four Country Music Association Award and five CMT Music Award nominations as well as a 2012 Teen Choice Award nomination for Choice Country Group. Keifer and Shawna Thompson are also winners of three fan-voted American Country Awards as well as a 2012 CMT Music Award for their follow-up smash, “I Got You.”
“Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” is nearing Double Platinum sales status, was the No. 1 Digital Soundscan Single for five weeks straight, the No. 1 Country Ringtone for 12 consecutive weeks and was iTunes 2011 Country Song of the Year. Thompson Square’s whirlwind 2011-12 saw them on national tours supporting Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum as well as gracing the stages of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Conan,” “Fox & Friends,” Fox’s All American Concert Series, and the 45th Annual CMA Awards. Thompson Square (or T2) ended 2011 as Billboard’s No. 1 New Country Artist in terms of digital sales and the No. 6 New Artist across all genres. Follow-up hits include the infectious, “I Got You,” (No. 6) and the power ballad “Glass” (No. 15).
