2012 Emmy Awards airing tonight on ABC

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out at 6 tonight, with the ceremony airing on ABC. Jimmy Kimmell will host the show.

Critical favorites “Mad Men” and “Downton Abbey” lead the drama nominees with 17 and 16 nominations each, respectively, while “Modern Family” dominates the nominees in the comedy categories with 14 nods, according to MTV.com.

HBO has a leading 81 nominations, while CBS has the highest network total with 60. PBS goes in with 58 nods, followed by NBC with 51, ABC with 48, AMC with 34, Fox with 26 and Showtime with 22, according to the Associated Press.

Among the nominees in the major categories are three with Oklahoma ties:

- Tulsa native Bill Hader is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his wide range of work on “Saturday Night Live.”

- University of Oklahoma graduate Ed Harris is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for “Game Change.”

- The singing competition “The Voice,” which stars Oklahoma country music star Blake Shelton as one of its four celebrity coaches, is nominated for Outstanding Reality Show Competition.
