“American Idol” Season 7 winner David Cook, who has Tulsa ties, premiered a new song, “From Here to Zero,” Saturday as he closed out the day-long Tampa Bay Summerfest celebration, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
During the acoustic set, he also delivered a stripped-down version of Counting Crows’ 1996 smash “A Long December” as well as re-tooled versions of his own songs, including “The Last Song I’ll Write For You,” “Mr. Sensitive,” “Heroes,” “Lie” and “Life on the Moon.”
Cook told the Summerfest crowd he is currently living in Nashville writing songs for a future record. He parted ways with RCA Records last year.

Great show. Went with the wife and we really enjoyed this young Singer/Songwriter Platinum Recording Artist’s acoustic show. We wish him all the best in future. He is one of the good ones and deserves it.
David Cook and Andy Skib were simply amazing Saturday night in Tampa. I love that they played some songs from Dave’s debut album DCTR, some songs from his current album This Loud Morning, his curent single “The Last Song I’ll Write For You” and yet to be released single “From Here To Zero”. But the song that tugged at my heart strings the most was the Counting Crows cover “A Long December”. Dave sang with so much love and passion in his voice, I almost didn’t recognize the song!He just keeps getting better and better!
David Cook is very talented. I love both his albums he’s put out since Amer. Idol. And while it’s amazing how he can re-work a cover song, it’s his original work that I’m drawn to most. It’s original, it’s delivered in his fantastic and versatile voice, and I can’t get enough of it! I am SO looking forward to his new album! If “The Last Song I’ll Write for You” and “From Here to Zero” are any indication, it’s going to be as fantastic as the first two!

David Cook put on a fantastic show Saturday night, then stayed out late to greet fans and take pictures, even in the rain. Such a nice guy and a class act. I see many great things in his future.
