New releases for June 26, 2012: “The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends” goes wide; Chris Cagle gets “Back in the Saddle”
Oklahoma City-based psychedelic rockers The Flaming Lips released today their album “The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends” in CD and digital formats.
The album, previously available only on limited edition vinyl as a Record Store Day release, features the Lips collaborating with such artists as Yoko Ono, Nick Cave, Bon Iver, Ke$ha and others. A new track recorded with Aaron Behrens of Ghostland Observatory is exclusive to the CD and digital versions.
As previously reported, the Lips are nominated for two O Music Awards and will attempt this week a record-breaking run of eight concerts in 24 hours.
Also, country singer-songwriter Chris Cagle, who lives on a horse ranch in Marietta, released today his first album in more than four years, appropriately titled “Back in the Saddle.” The CD also marks his debut on the indie label Bigger Picture Music Group.
Cagle will will celebrate the new album Thursday with CD signings at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill in Bricktown and Walmart Supercenter in Del City. Look for my interview with Cagle Wednesday.
