Thompson Square misses weekend shows after the death of Shawna Thompson’s father

Husband-and-wife country duo Thompson Square, which includes Miami, OK, native Keifer Thompson, missed opening sets on Lady Antebellum’s “Own the Night Tour” this past weekend after the death of the father of Shawna Thompson, Keifer’s wife and musical partner.
The Grammy-nominated couple also was scheduled to play the Country Radio Seminar “New Faces” showcase Friday night in Nashville, Tenn., but canceled the set.
Here is the statement released Friday on ThompsonSquare.com:
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Shawna Thompson’s father George Michael “Mickey” Mcllwain passed away yesterday evening in Alabama after a valiant battle with cancer. Shawna and her family were by his side when he passed. Please keep both Shawna and Keifer as well as Shawna’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
MCA Recording Artist David Nail will fill in for Thompson Square this weekend at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, MI and the Ford Center in Evansville, IN.

Our thoughts are with the Thompsons at this sad times.
