Sugar Free Allstars to play free show today to celebrate Grammy, spread word about proposed children’s museum

Local kindie rock duo Sugar Free Allstars will headline a free concert this afternoon to celebrate its recent Grammy victory and raise awareness about a plan to renovate Stage Center and open a children’s museum at the facility.
The performance will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the band shell at Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W Reno.
The band, featuring keyboardist Chris “Boom!” Wiser and drummer Rob “Dr. Rock” Martin, contributed to “All About Bullies … Big and Small,” which won the Grammy for best children’s album this month at the 54th annual Grammy Awards. They performed the song “Cooperate” with rapper Secret Agent 23 Skidoo.
Organizers Tracey Zeeck and Farooq Karim will unveil plans for the Children’s Museum at Stage Center, which would renovate the 41-year-old facility that was damaged by flooding in June 2010 and faces possible demolition.
