Jeanne Tripplehorn returning to TV with multi-episode role on “New Girl”

Emmy-nominated actress and Tulsa native Jeanne Tripplehorn is returning to television with multi-episode role on Fox’s comedy hit “New Girl,” starring Zooey Deschanel, according to EW.com.
Deschanel’s character Jess will have a new love interest this season: a single dad named Russell, who will be played by Dermot Mulroney. Tripplehorn has been cast to play Ouli, Russell’s ex-wife, who is going to make her ex’s new girl feel terrible any way she can, according to EW.com.
Mulroney will make his debut on “New Girl” in about two weeks, and Tripplehorn will appear in two episodes sometime after.
Tripplehorn, 48, was most recently seen on TV as one of the principles on HBO’s series “Big Love,” which ended last year. She also is known for her Emmy-nominated supporting turn portraying Jacqueline “Jackie O.” Kennedy Onassis the 2009 HBO telefilm “Grey Gardens” as well as for her movie roles in “Basic Instinct” and “Sliding Doors.”

The casting marks Tripplehorn’s first TV series role since HBO’s Big Love concluded last year. She’s also known for her roles in Basic Instinct and HBO’s Grey Gardens.
