Miranda Lambert protests Chris Brown’s Grammy performances, talks about sitting next to Lady Gaga on Twitter

Country music star and Tishomingo resident Miranda Lambert isn’t as well known for her Twitter activity as her tweet-happy hubby Blake Shelton, but her frank comments about Sunday’s Grammy Awards have gotten plenty of attention.

In particular, Lambert, who was a presenter during Sunday’s ceremony, thought it was inappropriate to have convicted felon Chris Brown perform not once but twice on the music industry’s most high-profile awards show.

And like many, she didn’t care much for Nicki Minaj’s five-minute performance of “Roman’s Revenge” and “Roman Holiday,” which included dancing priests, an apparent exorcism and the singer levitating.

“How dang long did they give Nicki Minaj to do whatever that was? Strange. And Chris Brown twice? I don’t get it. He beat on a girl…” Lambert tweeted Monday.

“Not cool that we act like that didn’t happen. He needs to listen to Gunpowder and lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys.”

“Gunpowder & Lead,” Lambert’s first top 10 hit back in 2008, is about a wife who plans to gun down her abusive husband once he is released from jail on bail.

Brown beat up then-girlfriend Rihanna the night before the Grammys in 2009. He pled guilty to an assault charge and was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community labor.

On Sunday’s Grammys, he performed his “Turn Up the Music” early in the show and then returned later as part of the Grammys’ much-hyped first dance music performance, throwing down with Lil Wayne and David Guetta. In between, Brown took the stage to accept the best R&B album Grammy.

As I said during my live blog Sunday, Brown’s screen time during the show seemed excessive. There are comebacks and then there are blatant attempts to brainwash us into forgetting all about someone’s ugly past indiscretions, and I felt the level of participation Brown was allowed during the show crossed the line.

Lambert tweeted high praise Monday for several Grammy performers:

“Now…Bruno Mars…yes please! That rocked and also Adele…duh! And Jennifer Hudson! That’s real music. kinda made up for all the suck,” tweeted Lambert, who had written Sunday on the micro-blogging site that she was “pretty much obsessed with Adele!”

Lambert also tweeted Monday that after watching the Grammys, “Love how much country music was represented. Makes me proud!” Shelton, The Band Perry, Glen Campbell, Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean were among the country performers, while Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Reba McEntire and Lady Antebellum were country artists who presented during the show.

In this photo posted on Blake Shelton's Facebook, from right, Shelton, his wife Miranda Lambert and pop star Lady Gaga.

Lambert also tweeted about her interesting seating arrangement during the Grammys, where she sat between Shelton and flamboyant pop-star Lady Gaga.

“Y’all. I have a new friend! @ladygaga from NYC and a Texas girl. Who new! She is really sweet! The odd couple… well not really!” Lambert tweeted Sunday.

“She likes to cook and as of tonight is a fan of the randarita! :) (bacardi and crystal light)”

She following up Monday pondering on Twitter: “Wonder what my new friend @ladygaga is up to today? Hehe:)”

This coming from someone who broke up a marriage. My point is, we all have skeletons in our closet. It’s not up to us to judge one another.

Miss Miranda. Who are you to condemn Chris Brown? Everyone deserves a second chance. He has done his penance. Chris is the TOTAL entertainer and is very good at it too, while you are mediocre at best.

Hang in there Miranda, your Right on key, more ways than one
Good ol OKIE opinion

Yes Please Melissa, sit down somewhere. Regardless he is an excellent artist. I don’t condone the fighting but Rihanna is no angel. Leave Chris alone!!!! It’s done!!!!

Telling Miranda to sit down because she doesn’t like an entertainment show that is glorifying violent acts against women?

I am not really a fan of Ms. Lambert’s, nor Mr. Brown’s music, but to give him that amount of air time. He’s not even apologized for his actions and remains to this day a convicted abuser of women.

His comments on his own twitter account were very telling, when he told the people who had spoken out against him to F**K OFF, that his Grammy was all that mattered.

Looks like he still needs a lesson in humility and contrition.

Why do people support this brand of d**che?

Whatever all you ignorant haters..Miranda has more class in her thumb than Chris wifebeater Brown will ever accumulate. And FYI, she didnt break up anybody’s marriage. She waited until Blake’s marriage was over by his choice and then they got together. Know your info before you open your shallow mouth. Miranda Lambert is a real class act who is breaking records and selling out venues daily whether you like it or not. She speaks her mind and if you don’t like it, o freakin well..

…….

So do we stone Chris Brown for the rest of his life? Let the man live. He made a mistake and HAS apologized for it. Miranda, get over it. Rihanna clearly has, so why are you hanging on to it? In the words of Queen K, sit down somewhere.

Chris Brown is a no talent hack An over paid abusive prick and NO ONE has forgotten about him and what was done to her —thats why his album sales have gone the way of the toiletbowl. He can’t dance he can’t sing and I would like to see him write his own stuff NOW DAVE GROLL from Foo Fighters is a true Artist who doesn’t need electronics and boom box’s to make his music He wrote his album not getting his material from others like Chris Brown and Justin Beiber THEY ALL SUCK EGGS AND ARE CRAP-OLA !!!!

HE IS A NO TALENT ABUSIVE HACK and won’t be anything other than that any time soon

He’s a piece of crap. Miranda is right. Once scum, always scum. Trying to deceive everyone so he can go right back to where he once stood, (An abuser). And the directors of the Grammys, where are your brains, you head bobbers.

From the police report…. I don’t listen to either chris brown or lambert. As a former director at a transition house, i just know abuse when i see it.

“A verbal argument ensued and Brown pulled the vehicle over on an unknown street, reached over Robyn F. with his right hand, opened the car door and attempted to force her out. Brown was unable to force Robyn F. out of the vehicle because she was wearing a seat belt. When he could not force her to exit, he took his right hand and shoved her head against he passenger window of the vehicle, causing an approximate one-inch raised circular contusion.

“Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.’s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle.

“Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, ‘I’m going to beat the sh– out of you when we get home! You wait and see!’ ”

The detective said “Robyn F.” then used her cell phone to call her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales, who did not answer.

“Robyn F. pretended to talk to her and stated, ‘I’m on my way home. Make sure the police are there when I get there.’

“After Robyn F. faked the call, Brown looked at her and stated, ‘You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I’m really going to kill you!’

“Brown resumed punching Robyn F. and she interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face. She then bent over at the waist, placing her elbows and face near her lap in [an] attempt to protect her face and head from the barrage of punches being levied upon her by Brown.

“Brown continued to punch Robyn F. on her left arm and hand, causing her to suffer a contusion on her left triceps (sic) that was approximately two inches in diameter and numerous contusions on her left hand.

“Robyn F. then attempted to send a text message to her other personal assistant, Melissa Ford. Brown snatched the cellular telephone out of her hand and threw it out of the window onto an unknown street.

“Brown continued driving and Robyn F. observed his cellular telephone sitting in his lap. She picked up the cellular telephone with her left hand and before she could make a call he placed her in a head lock with his right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand.

“Brown pulled Robyn F. close to him and bit her on her left ear. She was able to feel the vehicle swerving from right to left as Brown sped away. He stopped the vehicle in front of 333 North June Street and Robyn F. turned off the car, removed the key from the ignition and sat on it.

“Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. He then placed her in a head lock positioning the front of her throat between his bicep and forearm. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F.’s left and right carotid arteries, causing her to be unable to breathe and she began to lose consciousness.

“She reached up with her left hand and began attempting to gouge his eyes in an attempt to free herself. Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and then released her. While Brown continued to punch her, she turned around and placed her back against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest, placed her feet against Brown’s body and began pushing him away. Brown continued to punch her on the legs and feet, causing several contusions.

“Robyn F. began screaming for help and Brown exited the vehicle and walked away. A resident in the neighborhood heard Robyn F.’s plea for help and called 911, causing a police response. An investigation was conducted and Robyn F. was issued a Domestic Violence Emergency Protective Order.”

At the end of his statement, Andrews said Brown sent a text message nine days later apologizing.

“In the text message, Brown apologized for what he had done to Robyn F. and advised [Rihanna's assistant] Ford that he was going to get help

End of quote:

This only confirms that the above is true. Anyone who thinks different needs to pull their heads out of their rears. You say, (Oh! does he have to pay forever?) Yes, because he has not stopped shit!

Fuckin Thug!

um….obbssessed much. only days after the grammys “i wonder what my new friend @ladygaga is doing”. really? and lay off hillbilly. chris brown has grown from the experience and ur still stuck in the past. nobody even knows who the fuck you are so sit ur fat horse drawn ass back down.

I agree with Miranda. I do not listen to Chris Brown anymore, I do not buy his music and I turn the station the second he comes on. I grew up in an abusive home and most that have know that this type of behavior is rarely a one time thing. Plus from what I have seen of him since then (the GMA tantrum he threw and his tweets) its does not seem as if he has changed.

Chris Brown’s acceptance, so soon, speaks volumes for the thugs who dominate the grammy’s.
And, to top it off, there we have dear Whitney, who was abused by her hubby for years!!!!. That had to be a factor in her turning to drugs. What does this say to black women in music?? Good lord.

And Maryann…get a grip. He don’t deserve no second chance. He deserve a longer prison time and a good beatin’. And I’m sayin it this way because he don’t even deserve a decent sentence to describe his filth. he is not worth another second of our time.
nuff said…

Seriously, people are about being really stupid about this situation. First of all, Miranda shouldn’t have made a tweet like that. I mean, she is obviously mad that Chris Brown won a grammy on a pretty lame album, but she didn’t have to bring up his past which is pretty irrelevant to his grammy win. In other words, she didn’t have to start this “twitter war”. Secondly, why are you people actually getting involved with this shit. This is the most dumbest argument I’ve ever seen. Miranda should have just kept her opinion to herself and Chris should have just said nothing because that’s what Miranda wants. She wants him to retaliate to make him look like more of a jerk because she is a fucking turd. I’m no fan of Chris Brown and I trully don’t believe he should have won the Grammy in the first place, but seriously, let Chris be Chris. He is trying to think about his future and people are being dicks bringing up his past. I make fun of him a lot for what he did to Rhianna, but I understand that it really doesn’t matter anymore. Plus, for all of you people saying Miranda has class, she obviously doesn’t if she would start a twitter war and bash on Chris Brown for no reason. She isn’t being classy or speaking her mind, she is being a dick.

Small town Oklahoma tackiness and a tad bit of racism on a world wide stage…lol!!!

Actually Chris Brown has apologized several times -.- & Yea he said “fuck off” to Miranda just like any other person would’ve told her to “fuck off”

Miranda you are only making a fool out of yourself…showing your racism and saying Chris brown doesn’t have talent ! He has a god given talent and it’s up to him what he does with it. Leave him alone and let him grow from his own mistakes. Get a life and use your energy for more positivity! Peace and Love….

YOU DONT HAVE TO BE THERE IF MR BROWN MAKES EVERBODY MAD FOR
WHAT HE DID THREE YEARS MIRANDA WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IS TELL
HIM YOURSELF AND NOT BEHIND HIS BACK..AND MAYBE I WOULD SAY HE
IS A BAD BOY AND DONT NEED TO BE THERE THAT NIGHT TO GET HIS
GRAMMY. THAT GO FOR THE REST OF YOU PEOPLE THAT DO NOT WANT TO
FORGIVE ANY BODY….

Please – race has nothing to do with this. Charlie Sheen has domestic violence issues (among other things) and I put him in the same low class as Chris Brown. I call it like I see it and a thug is a thug. Neither one of those d-bags deserve awards or accolades for ANYTHING they do. And yet just because they’re famous some fans think we should ignore the bad things they’ve done. They wouldn’t say that if Chris or Charlie did that to their mother or sister. For shame people!

I would say she showed her true colors with her comments. I am curious as to what place Chris needs to be put back in? She made herself look really childish to be so old. I dont understand why individuals continue to be negative about something that has no direct impact on their day to day lives. The person that was involved in the ordeal has forgiven and moved on and she should do the same. She should have stayed at home if she didnt like the lineup. Who cares what she didnt like? Maybe she should be uninvited the next time if she is going to tweet about what she doesnt like. Does she sing the best? Chris should not have responded. He needs to learn discipline and learn to ignore negativity. Everyone will not like you and that is alright, its part of life. She wanted to provoke him and thats what she did. She needs to tweet her dissapproval about something that directly affects her such as the state of the economy and contribute to making a difference rather than her insignificant opinion about something that happened 3 years ago and has nothing to do with her. I am sure her closet isnt clean either.

enough. let the first one who is without sin… have done nothing wrong in their life…NOTHING…cast the first stone. We all live in glass houses called human bodies. I pity the day Blake makes a mistake for Ms. Perfect. Grammys are given for talent… not mistakes we make in judgement in life. can anyone see (LOOK) they just may be separate. REally Ms Lambert?
