What to do in Oklahoma on Jan. 27, 2012: Hear Other Lives at The Blue Note

Today’s featured event:
Hear Stillwater-based orchestral folk-rock band Other Lives at 8 p.m. today and Saturday at The Blue Note, 2408 N Robinson Ave. The shows are sold out, but if you have a chance to snag some random tickets or have already bought yours, these are can’t-miss concerts.
The group will head out on tour with Radiohead next month and play the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif., in April.
“It’s definitely something we feel like we’re a very, very lucky band to be able to have that opportunity,” frontman Jesse Tabish told The Oklahoman Entertainment Editor Gene Triplett about touring with Radiohead.
“It’s just gonna be kind of a different world, and at the same time, a gig’s a gig, and we’ll be playin’ tunes that we know and so, yeah, we’re really looking forward to it.”
Meanwhile, don’t expect another full-length Other Lives album until sometime in mid- to late 2013, although Tabish has managed to write some new music in the last few hectic months.
“I definitely want to record the record in Oklahoma,” he told Gene. “You know, working and recording from Oklahoma, I feel that I kind of get to be isolated from the fast-paced coast. You know, that’s why we’ve continued to live here. I’m an Okie. Everything’s a little bit slower-paced, and that’s conducive to the kind of music we want to make and the kind of time that we need to spend on a record.”
