Video: Samantha Crain and Penny Hill playing “It’s Simple” and giving homemade tattoos

Shawnee singer-songwriter Samantha Crain and her band The Cat Calls, which includes fellow Oklahoma musician Penny Hill, recently performed the unreleased song “It’s Simple” live in a street in Omaha, Neb., for the Love Drunk video series. The series features musicians who are from or playing Nebraska and can be viewed at www.hearnebraska.org.
In addition, Crain and Hill are featured in a new video in the “Anarchy in the OK” series, shot by Delo Creative. Inspired by the news that Angelina Jolie recently had the coordinates for partner Brad Pitt’s birthplace of Shawnee, OK, on her arm, Crain gives Hill a similar, homemade tattoo. Crain says that she has probably done about 10 “stick-and-poke tattoos.” “It’s kind of my party trick,” she says with a grin. Ouch.
Crain is set to play Friday at the Winnipeg Folk Festival in Manitoba, Canada.
