Today’s featured event:

Take advantage of your last chance this year to peruse more than 400,000 books, magazines, encyclopedias, DVDs and other items at the 32nd annual Friends of the Library Booksale from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today in Oklahoma Expo Hall at State Fair Park.

The theme of this year’s event is “Booksale … A Novel Idea!” The sale offers books covering a wide range of subjects, including fiction, nonfiction, biographies, medicine, romance, Western, children’s literature, encyclopedias, other reference books and books on tape, all at very low prices.

The booksale is divided into two sections: General and Collector’s Choice. In the General section, hardbacks are $1 and paperbacks are 50 cents. In Collector’s Choice, books are individually priced, with most less than $5. The BAM clan shopped the event Saturday and left with a tall stack of hardcover books – including several selections for the kiddos – for around $20.

If you need more incentive, proceeds from the sale are used to purchase items not covered by the library system’s budget and provide additional funds for special events and activities. Over the years, the Friends have granted more than $2.5 million to the Metropolitan Library System with the funds raised at the sale.
