Florence Welch + Gwyneth Paltrow, Zachary Levi, Mandy Moore, Randy Newman to perform on tonight’s Oscars

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards will air live at 7:30 p.m. today on ABC (KOCO-5 in Oklahoma City), and you can follow along with live blog here at BAM’s Blog! The festivities will begin here on the blog and on TV at 6 p.m. with the Oscars red carpet.

Thankfully, the Oscar producers have reversed last year’s wrongheaded decision to eliminate individual performances of the tunes nominated for best original song.

With the best original song performances are back on the schedule for tonight’s show, the Oscars will boast an interesting roster of musical performers, including previous Oscar victor Gwyneth Paltrow, favored Pixar composer/performer Randy Newman and a duet by “Chuck” star Zachary Levi and singer/actress Mandy Moore.

Paltrow will perform “Coming Home” from her country music-driven drama “Country Strong.” Paltrow is coming off a great performance with Cee Lo Green on the Grammy Awards and stayed strong while singing the theme from “Country Strong” last fall at the Country Music Association Awards.

Alan Menken, an eight-time Oscar winner who is nominated for writing the music for “I See the Light” from the animated film “Tangled,” will accompany singers Moore and Levi on the piano tonight. Moore voiced Rapunzel and Levi lent his pipes to the princess’ roguish love interest, Flynn Rider, in Disney’s entertaining new animated princess film. (Glenn Slater is also nominated for the song’s lyric).

Newman will perform his nominated song “We Belong Together” from the Disney/Pixar animated smash “Toy Story 3,” which is a favorite for best animated film. Newman won the best original song Oscar in 2002 for “If I Didn’t Have You,” from the Disney/Pixar blockbuster “Monsters Inc.”

Because English singer-songwriter Dido, who is nominated with Rollo Armstrong and A.R. Rahman for “If I Rise” from 127 Hours, was not available for tonight’s show, the producers have recruited Florence Welch from Florence + the Machine to appear with Rahman. Welch is coming off a standout performance in the opening number of the Grammys.

Along with the best original song nominees, tonight’s show also will feature the P.S. 22 Chorus, an elementary school chorus from Staten Island, N.Y., who will make a joyous musical appearance singing “Over the Rainbow,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

An interesting dialogue is price comment. I believe that it’s best to write extra on this topic, it may not be a taboo topic but usually individuals are not enough to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers
