Duncan’s Trail Dance Film Festival celebrates 5th anniversary

Trail Dance Film Festival Duncan,

DUNCAN — The Fifth Annual Trail Dance Film Festival will take place today-Sunday at the Simmons Center, 800 Chisholm Parkway, and the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, 1000 Chisholm Trail Parkway.

The Trail Dance Film Festival introduces up-and-coming filmmakers from around the globe to Oklahoma’s emergent film industry, and provides a welcoming forum to showcase films. Established in 2007, its mission is to encourage originality and creativity among filmmakers while promoting the overall film industry in the state.

In 2007, the festival received the “Outstanding New Event” RedBud Award at the Governor’s Conference on Tourism. MovieMaker Magazine named Trail Dance twice in their top 25 lists: once on its “Worth the Entry Fee” roster for filmmakers and again as one of the “Coolest Film Festivals.”

This year’s event will showcase a variety of films from across the world as well as Oklahoma films including “The Dome of Heaven,” “Simmons on Vinyl,” “A Christmas Snow” and “1 in 3.” The festival also will offer a filmmaker’s panel, awards gala and “Kid’s Fest,” which will feature live music and vendors.
