Wanda Jackson and Jack White to perform on “Conan” tonight

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Wanda Jackson releases today her highly anticipated new album “The Party Ain’t Over,” produced by rocker Jack White of The White Stripes.
In honor of the album release, Jackson, White and his Third Man House Band will perform tonight on “Conan.” Conan O’Brien’s late-night show starts at 10 p.m. on TBS.
The 73-year-old Jackson, who was born in Maud and has long made her home in Oklahoma City, was one of the first women to sing rock ‘n’ roll. The new album features the Queen of Rockabilly performing an array of covers from Amy Winehouse and Bob Dylan to Kitty Wells and Jimmie Rodgers.
Jackson, White and his Third Man House Band last week scorched through a fiery cover of Johnny Kidd and the Pirates’ “Shakin’ All Over” from the album on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The performance left Letterman speechless, and it will be interesting to see if “the sweet lady with the nasty voice” and her cohorts can outdo themselves on TV tonight.
Also, Jackson will perform a free album release show at 8 p.m. Friday at the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Performance Lab, 323 E Sheridan in Bricktown. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
Green Corn Revival, the Weatherford band whose debut album “Say Your a Sinner” made my list of top albums of 2010, will open for and back Jackson during Friday’s ACM@UCO show.

“The Party Ain’t Over” is out today on Nonesuch Records and White’s Third Man Records.
