What to do in Oklahoma on Jan. 18, 2011: Hear K.C. Clifford at OCCC

Today’s featured event:
Hear three-time Woody Guthrie Award-winning singer-songwriter K.C. Clifford, who will be the featured guest at this month’s Cultural Art Series at Oklahoma City Community College at 7 p.m. today.
Since 1998, the OCCC Cultural Arts Series has offered a fall and spring season of performances featuring touring artists from around the world. The events take place in OCCC’s 285-seat Bruce Owen Theater, inside the main college building at 7777 S May Ave.
“It’s such an honor to be included in this series, which often features international artists,” Clifford said in a news release. “I’m excited to bring the intimacy of my traditional show to a larger stage and hope to make a lot of new friends.”
Ticket prices are $24.50 for general admission, $12.50 for students and children, and $19.50 for senior citizens and OCCC faculty and staff. For tickets and information, go to www.kcclifford.com or call 682-7576.
Clifford is currently touring in support of her new, folk-inspired studio album “Orchid.” The Oklahoma City musician describes her style as, “Like Patty Griffin swapping secrets with Karen Carpenter and Anne Lamott.”
A member of Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s celebrity counsel, Clifford’s personal story, and her anti-hunger anthem, “Raise Your Voice,” was featured on a special episode of the NBC reality television show “The Biggest Loser.”
