Box Office Report for September 17-19

The second act of Ben Affleck’s career continues to look good, as his new film The Town (which he wrote, directed, and stars in) reached the top of the box office and secured good reviews. Easy A, the teen revamp of The Scarlet Letter, also looked good in its opener and came in at number two.
M. Night Shyamalan’s new horror film Devil underperformed slightly, most likely because of competition from the new Resident Evil movie. The only other new movie this week was the kid’s film Alpha and Omega, which hardly made a dent in the box office with less than $10 million gained.
The box office totals for September 17-19, courtesy of IMDB:
1.) The Town $23.8 million (New)

5.) Alpha and Omega $9.2 million (New)
