Video: Rascal Flatts, Jim Tressel in suicide prevention PSA
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, and Rascal Flatts, which includes Joe Don Rooney of Picher, and Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel have recorded a public service announcement about a new program to prevent youth suicide.
The country band and The Jason Foundation, Inc. are working together on the new program. In addition to their roles as Celebrity Ambassadors and participation in public services announcements, public awareness programs, and fundraising, Rascal Flatts will promote the newly created B1 Project. The purpose of the B1 Project is to educate youth and students on recognizing the warning signs of youth suicide and how to help a friend.
The Jason Foundation, Inc. is an educational organization dedicated to the awareness and prevention of youth suicide. JFI believes that awareness and education are the first steps to prevention.
According to the PSA, suicide is the third leading cause of death among youths and one of the leading causes of preventable death.
