Twilight ‘eclipses’ old records

Eat your heart out, Shia LaBeouf.

Yesterday’s premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse screened in 4,416 theaters and generated a single-day gross of $68.5 million, setting new records as the US’s widest-opening film and highest-grossing Wednesday opening. The previous record-holder for the latter was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, according to EW.com.

Aren’t we supposed to be in a recession?
